Prior Authorization

Most health insurance plans, including Medicare, require a "Prior Authorization" for certain prescription medications and services.

What is a Prior Authorization

Prior Authorization is a process used by some health plans to determine if a medication, procedure or service will be covered. Your provider will go through the Prior Authorization process with you if it is in your best interest. If your plan is unlikely to provide a Prior Authorization, your provider may select an alternate prescription or dose, or my recommend an over-the-counter medication instead. The Family Health Centers will always discuss your options with you to help you determine the best course of action when a Prior Authorization is required.
